My $39 Mistake

I hate making mistakes, especially ones that cost money. So I heard a pthrrrrr noise when I turned on the dryer the other day...hmm. Not good. I called a repair guy to come out and fix it. Well, after taking the whole dryer apart, he found this tightly wrapped around the dryer parts:
It's totally shredded, if you can't tell.
Ha, that's funny. I was going to wear a shirt on Sunday that has a brown ribbon belt. After hurriedly trying to find the ribbon that goes with it, I finally decided to put on something else so we could leave for church (not on time).
......................................
Moral of the story:
Don't put a ribbon in the dryer or any other small item that could get caught in the lint guard and get swallowed up! That was just plain laziness on my part. C'mon!
..........................
BTW, the repairman was nice--he showed me a company cost scale that determined that for 20-40 minutes of labor that he should get paid $135 on top of the $39 come-to-your-house fee. He said he would just charge me the $39. I noticed that for less than 20 minutes the cost should have been $95. Who knows if that cost scale he pulled out was legit, but I was grateful nonetheless. I tried to tip him, but he refused, "What kinda man would I be?" in that great southern accent.

Ahh, This is the Life...

Hallie had her legs up like this drinking her milk, so I grabbed the camera and made her pose her arms--hee hee! We had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend, and hope you did too!

Aside: Not sure why my camera has a pink stripe down the side, hopefully that was a temporary glitch!

Ouch!

Well, we've had quite a week so far with the little missy. Yesterday she fell down a few (hopefully) stairs, and today we had a stroller mishap. Totally my fault. Didn't strap her in when I went walking because I just hurried and didn't think she would stand up en route. She flipped over the front, fell on her face, and her body bent in a way I don't want to see again.

A couple other mishaps today (like slamming into the back of Carly's couch) plus I think she's getting a cold. Runny nose so I thought she was teething, but I heard a cough last night. What the heck!? My pediatrician said that it's normal to expect 8-10 sicknesses in a 12 month period. She's definitely up to 4 already this year. Sheesh. Oh yeah, and no nap today.

Needless to say a lot of whining, picky eating, and stubborn fits this week.

This is how I got her to eat breakfast yesterday morning.

I'm a MOM!

Look at what my little angel-pie made at church yesterday!

That's ok that her chubby little thumb moved--I still love it! What a great opportunity I have to help raise such a sweet little missy! I love her to pieces!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day! I sure love my wonderful mom and mom-in-law!! They are delightful ladies. Similar yet different; I really appreciate both!

I had a great weekend! Special thanks to the hubby. Out to breakfast, pedis, and shopping with some friends on Saturday (so fun!). . .

(apparently breakfast was so delicious that we forgot to take a picture until after we had stuffed our faces)

. . . then a delightful Sunday dinner from John on Sunday. Shrimp carbonara with whole wheat spaghetti and pancetta, broccoli, and salad. Yep, he's a pretty good cook when he wants to be. Oh, and the Willow Tree angel (our ongoing accumulation of the Christmas nativity) and this:Hopefully my face will look and feel better after using it and not worse. I guess we shall see!

Happy Spring!

John & I went outside after church on Sunday to get a few pictures of Hallie. John blew bubbles and I snapped away!

Last week, Hallie & I saw these cute white sparkly shoes at Target and couldn't resist.

Happy Birthday...

To ME!
Yep, another year older, I feel like my face is aging, at least.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes and gifts!

Bed Project

I had more family coming in to town so I thought I would start this project.

Here's the before:
(side comment: My mom always told us that there had to be a person in the pictures, so here ya go Mom!)

Here's the after:
I thought I could update this daybed a little--less little kiddish and more guest-beddish. I primed it, then spray-painted it with a black textured paint in the hopes that it would resemble a rod-iron bed. Special thanks to Lisa and Jenny! And to John, of course, for assemblage!
